\"\"<\/a>Unfortunately, the game\u2019s soundtrack is on par with the rest of it, i.e. mediocre. Penned by one Jeremy Soule, it\u2026just fails to stand out in any significant way. Most of the songs are identical-sounding, darkly ominous affairs, with rather inchoate melodies. As a result, I would be pretty much incapable of humming one of them off the top of my head, or even recognising them upon listening to them. Even the \u201cMain Theme\u201d is a forgettable mess, alternating between the brooding and the brash. In fact, I think that the most notable tracks are the various tavern songs, simply because they actually stand out from the ambient gloom, despite being simple and repetitive. There\u2019s the lilting \u201cShining Serpent Tavern\u201d, from the eponymous tavern in the Beggar\u2019s Nest in Neverwinter, which sounds a bit like it\u2019s being played on a harpsichord. Then there\u2019s the brisk and jolly \u201cSeedy Tavern\u201d, whose namesake is located in the Neverwinter Docks, the \u201cCutlass Inn\u201d from Luskan, which sounds surprisingly soulful and pensive, and the delightfully named \u201cWink and Tickle Bordello\u201d (also in Luskan), with its light, cavorting rhythm.<\/p>\n

Some of the combat tunes also stand out of the ambient morass. Most of them are named after the locale where the battles take place. \u201cWarrens of the Damned\u201d has a whirling quality to it, while \u201cSiege of Fort Ilkard\u201d is loud and brassy. \u201cNorth Road\u201d starts off modestly, but builds up into something probably more epic than is warranted by that particular area. Finally, \u201cStreet Encounter\u201d, which, as its name does not<\/em>imply, plays at the Neverwinter Docks gives the sense of a lurking menace pouncing from the shadows.<\/p>\n

There are a couple of other tracks named after the locations they play in that are easy on the ears, such as the soothing chanting of \u201cTemple of Tyr\u201d, the majestic peacefulness of \u201cNeverwinter Wood\u201d or the delicate harp strains of \u201cRich House\u201d, which plays in the Blacklake District mansions.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, you have completely useless tracks such as \u201cCreator Ruins\u201d, which is essentially a glowering ambience with some scratchy sounds interspersed throughout, the barely audible \u201cRuins of Illusk\u201d or \u201cThe Great Graveyard\u201d, which consists of a bunch of sustained notes with some background rumbling.<\/p>\n\n
