\"\"<\/a>Inon Zur takes over from Michael Hoenig. The style is somewhat similar, but also more elaborate in places, with a stronger focus on melody, rather than ambience, which is a positive development. It also brings back a Middle-Eastern flavour, even though the expansion is set in Tethyr, rather than Amn. The overall mood is very dark, which is fitting, considering the storyline. The \u201cMain Theme\u201d, in particular, sounds so very final, giving it all a very \u2018this is it\u2019 feeling, even with the surprisingly light and floaty passage that occurs about 2\/3rds<\/sup> into the track.<\/p>\n

The combat themes feature highlights such as \u201cSendai Battle\u201d, with its whirling strings, or the brassy, driving \u201cFinal Battle\u201d. There are also several memorable location themes, such as \u201cBhaal\u2019s Pocket Plane\u201d, which creates a sense of uncertainty and lurking menace to it. \u201cSendai\u2019s Enclave\u201d also does a great job of the \u2018menace\u2019 part, although it\u2019s far more overt in this case. \u201cSaradush\u201d sounds like it\u2019s leading up to an execution (which it essentially is). \u201cAmkethran\u201d is the most Middle-Eastern-sounding piece of the lot, which fits the town\u2019s architecture very well. And finally, \u201cEnd of the Saga\u201d brings the series to a conclusion full of solemnity and poise.<\/p>\n

There are some less successful tracks in the lot, mind you, such as \u201cYaga-Shura\u2019s Lair\u201d, which sounds almost too threatening for the situation, or the somewhat formless \u201cWatcher\u2019s Keep\u201d.<\/p>\n
